The next IRGO cross-disciplinary research seminar will exceptionally take place via Zoom:

Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We are honored to welcome Nil Özçağlar-Toulouse (Professor at the University of Lille), who will speak on the following topic:

“The life story method”

In the early 2000s, my research on responsible consumers revealed much more than just purchasing behavior: it opened a window onto rich and committed life trajectories. This observation came about through an “epiphany”: behind the questionnaires lay letters, stories, critiques, and personal accounts. Inspired by Bourdieu and the life story method, I chose to explore responsible consumption by giving a voice to individuals, not as “consumers,” but as social actors. This approach goes beyond statistics or traditional interviews to understand the links between consumer choices, lived experiences, and worldviews. In this presentation, I will share how this method transforms our view of responsibility and freedom in consumption. I will also outline the historical context of the method, how to implement it, and the keys to analyzing these narratives.

The seminar will be held REMOTELY. Here is the Zoom link to use:
