History

IRGO was established in 2004. It was formed through the merger of three existing disciplinary teams: CREGE (marketing and business strategy), CRECCI (accounting, control and auditing) and CREFF (a research centre focusing on family and financial businesses). The following teams were subsequently added in chronological order of creation: the Entrepreneurship team, the Banking and Financial Management team, the Family Businesses team (which resulted from CREFF being divided into two separate teams), and finally the Human Resources Management team. In 2022, the ‘Family Businesses’ and ‘Banking and Financial Management’ teams merged to form the ‘Finance’ team.

General organisation of the laboratory

IRGO aims to bring together these five research teams – Accounting, Control and Auditing; Entrepreneurship; Finance; Marketing; and Human Resources – and address three cross-functional focuses: digital topics; CSR; and Wine & Territory. These themes are intended to enhance the laboratory’s visibility as a research unit specializing in organisational management, and to strengthen its connections with regional stakeholders, both public and private, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.

In 2025, IRGO has 120 members, including 55 permanent members, 30 doctoral students, and 35 associate researchers.
